A friend of mine, who is dying of cancer
and who has been mostly incoherent
opened her eyes and stated to me clearly
"I am going to hell"
I don't know if she meant the hospice care home
she was being sent to that day to die
or some great unsettled guilt that haunts
her last dreaming days of life
God have mercy on her
